San Diego Blue Star Families and Blue Star Neighbors, don’t miss an amazing performance at one of our Blue Star Theatres –

San Diego Repertory!

What: Grounded
Who: Blue Star Families and Blue Star Neighbors
When: May 17th, 2-5pm
Where: San Diego Repertory Theatre

“Gripping…presents a convincing portrait” – The New York Times
“As close to perfection as is possible to imagine… a powerful, hallucinogenic experience.” –What’s On Stage

GROUNDED, by George Brant, was named as one of the 10 best plays of the year by The Guardian in London. This award-winning play seamlessly blends the personal and the political as a hot-rod F16 fighter pilot’s unexpected pregnancy ends her career in the sky. Repurposed to flying remote-controlled drones in the Middle East from an air-conditioned trailer near Vegas, she struggles through surreal twelve-hour shifts far from the battlefield, hunting terrorists by day and being a wife and mother by night. A tour-de-force piece for actress Heather Ramey, under the direction of Emilie Whelan, Grounded flies from the heights of lyricism to the shallows of workaday existence, targeting our assumptions about war, family, and the power of storytelling.

This show is a hot ticket! It has been staged multiple times around the world and is most recently being produced off-Broadway starring Anne Hathaway, where Time Out noted it as being “a smart, beautiful bit of writing that is completely absorbing and hard to forget.” And San Diego REPertory Theatre is thrilled to bring this important conversation to our military-infused community during the 2015 Armed Forces Week for free!  Note: Seating is limited.
