‘Project Runway Junior’

‘Project Runway Junior’

I am pretty amazed by this season of Project Runway Junior so far, and we are only three episodes in, but so far I’m loving it! The kids are extremely talented and from what I’ve seen, I would definitely wear some of those clothes right off the runway! I totally forgot that this is their second attempt at this version of the “junior” designer show because their previous attempt of “Project Runway THREADS” didn’t quite catch our attention.

This revamped version is more like the “Project Runway” formula that’s been in our lives for 14 seasons now and apparently is more of a formula that works. The revamped version includes a model who resembles Heidi Klum (probably on purpose) — Hannah Davis as the host, alongside judges Christian Siriano (mini-Michael Kors), Cosmopolitan’s Aya Kinai (for an editor’s eye à la Nina Garcia) and Kelly Osbourne, whose “good cop” feedback on “Fashion Police” makes her the perfect fit for this show. We all wondered if she was gonna pop up again after all the “drama” on the “Fashion Police” because that show was all about the late, great, dearly-departed and greatly missed Joan Rivers.

But of course, a “Project Runway” branded show is not fully complete without Mr. “make it work” Tim Gunn. Again, much like PR, each episode of PRJ will include a challenge to win immunity for the next round as contestants inch closer to the final prize: a full-ride to FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise), $25,000 to help launch his or her own line, a home studio provided by the sewing company Brothers and a feature in Seventeen.

I love that one of the main prizes that the winner of Project Runway Junior will receive is a full scholarship to FIDM, which incidentally is where a lot of the filming is done in Southern California. It’s also where the majority of the contestants are from as well.

Below are a few of my favorite looks from the first few episodes so far:

Maybe if I played with my paper dolls a little bit more as a teenager I could have been on PRJ too? Probably not but I can dream can’t I?

Until next time my Veteran Fashionistas, as always, stay fashionable!
